Bestway Group has officially introduced Chinese automaker Geely Auto to Pakistan at a launch ceremony at Park View City in Islamabad, according to a press release. The event was attended by Group founder Sir M. Anwar Pervez, Group Chairman Lord Zameer Choudrey, senior executives from both companies, industry leaders, guests, and members of the media. The launch marks Bestway Group’s expansion into the automotive sector. Bestway Automotive is Geely’s sole authorised distributor in Pakistan and will oversee the brand’s introduction and development, including vehicle sales and after-sales support. The partnership also paves the way for local assembly, with Bestway preparing its facility in Karachi for the next phase of Geely’s operations in the country.
Three models were unveiled at the event: the EX2, the EX5, and the Starray EM-R. The Geely EX2 is a compact, fully electric hatchback designed for urban driving, while the EX5 is a fully electric SUV. The Starray EM-R uses range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) powertrain technology, which combines electric driving with the flexibility of an onboard petrol engine. Irfan Sheikh, Group Managing Director for Non-Banking Businesses at Bestway Group, Pakistan, said the unveiling marks an exciting first step and that the aim is to have locally assembled Geely vehicles on Pakistan’s roads within the next few months. He said the partnership brings together Bestway’s decades of experience in building businesses in Pakistan with Geely’s global expertise in the automotive industry.
Haider Choudrey, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bestway Group, said Geely’s arrival extends the group’s long-standing commitment to Pakistan into the automotive sector. He said Bestway has invested more than $350 million in Pakistan through sectors such as cement manufacturing and banking, creating over 20,000 jobs in the last three years alone. According to Choudrey, the partnership will open opportunities for local manufacturing, employment generation, skills development, and a stronger automotive supply chain, while giving Pakistani consumers greater choice and access to global automotive technology. The group had announced the distribution agreement in July 2026, when the signing ceremony was held at Geely’s headquarters in Hangzhou, China, and said then that imported vehicles would be followed by units assembled locally at its plant in Karachi.
Evin Ye, Vice President of GAIC and Managing Director of Geely Auto ASEAN, said Geely’s entry into South Asia begins with Pakistan and that the company sees significant potential in the market. He described the arrangement as a long-term commitment to grow together with Bestway, improve customer support, and bring safe, intelligent, and high-quality mobility to Pakistani families. The launch was built around Geely’s global brand philosophy, “See the World in Full”, which the company links to inclusive mobility through engineering, technology, and design. The press release does not give prices, booking dates, or delivery timelines for the three models, and it does not say how many vehicles the Karachi facility will assemble, so buyers will need to wait for those details from Bestway Automotive.
