FBR Takes Action: Anomaly Committees Formed to Address Issues in the Finance Bill

Asim Ahmad, the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, established the Anomaly Committee-Business and Anomaly Committee-Technical following the introduction of the Federal Budget 2023–2024.

These committees will find and fix the commercial and technical irregularities mentioned in the Finance Bill 2023 and provide suggestions to FBR for fixing them.

Dr. Khurram Tariq, President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, will be in charge of the Anomaly Committee-Business. Suraiya Ahmed Butt, Member of Customs Policy FBR, and Afaque Ahmad Qureshi, Member of IR-Policy FBR, will serve as co-chairpersons.

Ashfaq Yousaf Tola, Chairman of the Reforms and Resource Mobilization Commission, will serve as the chair of the Anomaly Committee-Technical, with Member Customs Policy and Member IR-Policy FBR serving as co-chairs. Prominent businessmen from several Chambers of Commerce and trade associations are also members.

Both Committees have received proper notice from FBR and must submit their ideas by June 19th.
