Pakistan’s presence in the global tech and gaming ecosystem has gained notable recognition with the appointment of Fasieh Mehta as the Industry Head for Mobile Apps & Gaming – Pakistan at Google. Based in Singapore at Google’s Asia-Pacific headquarters, Mehta brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously represented Epic Games in Pakistan and played a central role in highlighting the country’s gaming potential on international platforms.

The announcement has been seen as a strong acknowledgment of the growth and maturity of Pakistan’s mobile development and gaming sector. Over the past few years, local creators have developed globally successful mobile apps and games, attracting attention from international platforms and investors. Google’s decision to onboard a dedicated industry lead focused on Pakistan signals its commitment to supporting and expanding the country’s developer ecosystem.

Mehta’s selection followed a competitive recruitment process lasting ten months, involving multiple interview rounds and evaluations, consistent with Google’s rigorous global hiring standards. According to sources familiar with the appointment, the position was publicly advertised, and Google remained focused on finding a candidate who could effectively represent and grow Pakistan’s mobile apps and gaming landscape on a global stage.

In a personal statement shared on his LinkedIn profile, Mehta described the appointment as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s app and gaming community. His vision for the role centers around enabling local developers, publishers, and studios to scale their products, improve their visibility, and connect with global best practices, tools, and platforms. He emphasized that his goal is not just to lead, but to support and collaborate with creators across Pakistan, serving as a bridge between local innovation and global opportunity.

Reflecting on his journey, Mehta shared that he had long admired Google’s mission and had visited its offices in Mountain View, London, Dubai, and Singapore in different capacities—as a guest, a partner, and an observer. With this new role, he now enters those same offices as a Googler, with a mandate to help shape the future of Pakistan’s digital creative industries.

His experience at Epic Games, where he was actively involved in building relationships within the local ecosystem, prepared him to take on this leadership position. During his tenure, he worked closely with game developers and content creators to promote Pakistan’s capabilities in design, development, and publishing. His transition to Google is seen as a strategic move that aligns with the platform’s growing interest in mobile-first markets.

Google’s move to appoint a country-specific lead for mobile apps and gaming reflects the changing dynamics of the digital economy. With Pakistan emerging as a mobile-first nation and a vibrant creative hub, localized leadership is becoming essential to better understand and support developer needs. Mehta’s message to the tech community remains open and inclusive—he aims to listen, learn, and build alongside Pakistan’s fast-expanding developer base.
