In a significant collaboration aimed at advancing green technology and sustainable mobility, ELFA and Atom Power, both subsidiaries of Wavetec, have partnered with NED University of Engineering and Technology. The initiative is designed to promote awareness and accessibility of next generation technologies while also encouraging applied research and innovation in Pakistan’s clean energy ecosystem. Through this partnership, NED faculty and students will be able to access ELFA and Atom Power products through special financing arrangements, including interest free installment plans, making sustainable solutions more attainable for young engineers and academics. The collaboration not only strengthens industry-academia linkages but also contributes to the wider adoption of electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems in the country.

ELFA has rapidly become one of the leading electric bike brands in Pakistan under its flagship EV Technologies platform. Developed and manufactured locally, ELFA bikes have been engineered specifically for the Pakistani market, addressing challenges such as affordability, durability, and accessibility of spare parts. Equipped with fast charging lithium ion batteries from Atom Power, the bikes are capable of handling long commutes, rough terrain, and heavy loads, making them a practical solution for daily users. By focusing on affordability and local production, ELFA is creating mobility options that respond to rising fuel costs while supporting Pakistan’s drive towards a cleaner energy future. According to Huma Khattak, the collaboration reflects the company’s belief that affordability should never be a barrier to innovation. She highlighted that this step not only accelerates the EV movement on university campuses but also supports the development of future engineers and innovators.

Atom Power is complementing this effort by driving Pakistan’s clean energy transition with advanced lithium ion battery storage solutions proudly assembled in the country. Using locally sourced materials and expertise, the company has been developing high performance energy storage systems for homes, businesses, and SMEs. These systems are complemented by hybrid inverters to deliver customized solutions tailored to Pakistan’s energy landscape. With an ambition to cater to both domestic and global markets, Atom Power is positioning itself as a strong player in the energy storage sector, building innovation capacity within the country. Waqas Ahmed emphasized that working directly with academia bridges the gap between breakthrough science and scalable real-world solutions, aligning with the company’s mission of delivering affordable, reliable, and smart energy systems for a sustainable future.

As part of Wavetec, a technology group with more than three decades of experience in driving digital innovation, both ELFA and Atom Power are leveraging proven expertise to scale clean technologies worldwide. The partnership with NED University is also a continuation of the longstanding relationship between the institution and Wavetec, one that has often focused on enabling students with practical exposure to cutting edge technologies. By endorsing ELFA and Atom Power products, NED University has opened pathways for applied research, talent development, and the creation of innovative solutions aligned with Pakistan’s sustainability agenda. Prof Dr Saad Ahmed Qazi, Dean of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NED, said the collaboration represents a significant step in making clean technology accessible to the university community while preparing students to contribute as both users and developers of next generation solutions.

The initiative also complements NED University’s campus sustainability goals, aligning with national priorities to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and electric mobility. With rising fuel prices and ongoing challenges such as load shedding, solutions offered by ELFA and Atom Power provide cost effective and practical alternatives to conventional energy and transport systems. This partnership highlights the importance of local industry working closely with academia to nurture future talent and develop technologies that are both sustainable and scalable. By bringing affordable electric mobility and advanced energy storage into the academic space, ELFA and Atom Power are setting the stage for a new generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and engineers to play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s transition to clean energy.
