Industry’s top guns including Daraz, Dawaai, FoodPanda, Homeshopping, Symbios, Telemart, Yayvo and more join hands to establish E-commerce Association of Pakistan
With the advent of 3G/4G services and smartphones in Pakistan, the ecommerce industry has really started to boom in the country. Evidence can be seen in the statement by the Pakistan’s Consul General to Chengdu, China who said that Pakistan could become one of the future destinations of emerging B2C E-Commerce.
Statistics show that Pakistan’s e-commerce sales in 2017 were $ 622 million, 0.34% of the retail market and are doubling every year. The numbers are expected to reach 1 billion US dollars by 2020 as the ecommerce market keeps on expanding day by day.

In January 2018 the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) had finalized a policy framework for e-commerce and digital trade that was shared with the former Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The policy draft was prepared after extensive work of various teams involving different stakeholders according to sources.
To further work on the ecommerce industry some of the major players such as Daraz, Yayvo, Telemart, Symbios and Dawaai have joined hands to form the Ecommerce Association of Pakistan (eCAP). It is said to be a non-profit organization that aims to promote the ecommerce industry in Pakistan.
