Telenor Microfinance Bank has officially transitioned into Easypaisa Digital Bank, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s financial landscape. The transformation, which took effect on January 28, 2025, aligns with the institution’s vision of expanding its digital banking services and fostering financial inclusion in the country. The rebranding reflects the company’s evolution from a microfinance institution to a fully-fledged digital retail bank, positioning itself at the forefront of Pakistan’s fintech revolution.

In an official statement, Easypaisa Digital Bank announced its new operational identity under the registered name “Easypaisa Bank Limited,” formerly known as “Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited.” With this change, the company aims to strengthen its digital banking offerings and provide an enhanced range of financial products and services. The transformation is backed by a regulatory shift, as the bank will now function under the Banking Companies Ordinance (BCO), 1962. This move ensures stability, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth within the rapidly evolving digital banking sector. The company has reassured its customers and stakeholders that its existing shareholding structure will remain unchanged.

Under the Licensing and Regulatory Framework for Digital Banks, Easypaisa Digital Bank plans to introduce an expanded suite of services, leveraging digital innovation to cater to the growing demand for seamless financial solutions. These offerings will include digital accounts, consumer lending products, term deposit services, and a broader range of digital banking solutions aimed at strengthening financial accessibility across Pakistan.

The institution emphasized that this transition underscores its commitment to financial inclusion, regulatory adherence, and technological advancement. With a robust digital infrastructure, strategic partnerships, and a focus on innovation, Easypaisa Digital Bank aims to redefine Pakistan’s digital banking experience, making financial services more inclusive, secure, and efficient for millions of users.

By rebranding itself as a digital bank, Easypaisa is poised to play a key role in shaping the future of banking in Pakistan, ensuring greater accessibility to financial services while maintaining high standards of compliance and risk management. This transformation signals a new era in Pakistan’s digital finance sector, where convenience and innovation drive the evolution of banking services.
