Daraz continues to look for new ways to contribute significantly to the growth of Pakistan’s e-commerce market. During Mobile Week, Daraz partnered with TCF College, QriosityNet, and Ufone to educate and empower underprivileged youth through the distribution of tablets and educational workshops on business know-how, financial literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and everything else that can help them become financially independent and self-sufficient.

Daraz will provide the tablets and its partners (with the support of consumer donations), as well as provide tailored training and workshops for these selected prospective entrepreneurs. Between the 16th and the 23rd of June, a ceremony with representatives from all partners will be held to hand over devices and start the programme. Trainings and workshops are tentatively scheduled for July and August (depending on when the students get free from their board exams).

Daraz has also joined with QriosityNet, a comprehensive and professional student network. “Our visions to reskill and upskill students with financial and technical literacy, as well as entrepreneurship and resume building tips, align and allow us to lay the groundwork to empower students to be readily employable and/or pursue higher education,” said Nahyan Farooq, Chief Design Officer at QriosityNet.

“The Daraz Parwaan Project is a step to revolutionise Pakistan’s under-resourced youth by acting as an enabler for resource provision, meeting their training & development needs, and ensuring they can cope with the digitally changing landscape by focusing on skills like resume building & interview tips, financial literacy, tools & tech knowledge,” Hammad Khalid, Head of TCF College, said.

“We are striving to create opportunities in the e-commerce sector not only by taking everyone on board to set up their business via Daraz but also by equipping Pakistani youth with all such resources that can make them self-sufficient and financially independent,” Almira Naz Butt, Head of CSR at Daraz, said. We hope that Daraz Parwaan, in partnership with TCF, QriosityNet, and Ufone, will be in a better position to achieve these goals.”

Pakistan’s young generation possesses the necessary skills to be successful professionals. They are, however, under-resourced and must learn particular skills in order to have a prosperous future.
