The first session of the sixth meeting of the Executive Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has brought several crucial agenda items to the forefront, specifically related to the IT and Telecom sector.
As per documents obtained by news outlets, these agenda points encompass a diverse range of topics. They include updates on the infrastructure sharing framework, the provision of Right of Way (RoW) by Railways, the establishment of E-rozgar centers in cantonment areas, digital integration of public sector entities, progress in resolving court cases, and the availability of spectrum related to 5G.
Additionally, this executive committee meeting is set to delve into the finalization of pre-feasibility studies for four significant projects. These projects comprise the potential for investment in Telecom Infrastructure by the Universal Service Fund (USF), the establishment of cloud infrastructure in Pakistan, the development of Special Technology Zones (STZs) in the country, and the manufacturing of mobile devices.
Furthermore, the meeting agenda includes discussions on the National Space Policy and space activities rules. It will also encompass deliberations on the approval of board members for the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA).
Chaired by the Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives, this session will see the participation of the National Coordinator for SIFC, concerned Federal and Provincial Ministers, as well as high-level government officials.
