China Power, a prominent Chinese company, has expressed its keenness to establish an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in the province of Sindh, Pakistan. This development comes as part of the growing interest from Chinese companies to invest in the country’s automobile industry.
According to media reports, a delegation from China Power met with Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Sindh Minister for Information and Transport, in Karachi. Memon warmly welcomed the company’s interest and assured the delegation of the provincial government’s full support for investors and industrialists.
It is worth noting that last year, another Chinese company successfully set up Pakistan’s first intra-city bus manufacturing company in Karachi, leading to reduced bus prices. Since then, multiple companies have shown a strong desire to establish automobile manufacturing facilities in Pakistan, highlighting the country’s potential as a favorable investment destination.
Following a meeting with the country manager of the bus company, Memon announced plans to construct an 18-acre manufacturing plant within 20 months. The plant aims to produce 500 buses annually, with a primary focus on manufacturing public transport vehicles. Memon emphasized that establishing a public transport manufacturing plant is a top priority for the government, as it would greatly benefit the people of Sindh.
Taking to Twitter, Memon shared that he had a detailed meeting with a leading Chinese bus manufacturer, and both parties have agreed to commence the construction of an intra-city bus manufacturing plant in Karachi. This collaboration represents a significant step towards boosting the local automobile industry and improving public transportation in the province.
The interest shown by China Power in establishing an EV manufacturing plant in Sindh highlights the increasing confidence of international investors in Pakistan’s potential for growth in the automotive sector. The provincial government’s support and encouragement for such investments further strengthen the country’s position as a hub for automobile manufacturing and technological advancements.
