The Center of Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) inaugurated the first ever National Media Conference here on 19th April 2017 in Karachi. Following the Gala Dinner, the two day conference was to take place at the Institute of Business Administration – Karachi City Campus from 8:30am to 6:30pm.
Sessions featured at the event were to include topics such as digital media and journalist safety, including trainings on smartphone journalism, digital rights, data journalism, and both physical and digital safety for journalists.

Along with group activities, panel discussions were to take place on:
- The Future of Digital News
- Women in the Media
- Reporting in Conflict Areas
The opening speech is to be given by Mr. Muhammad Ziauddin, concluding remarks are to be given by Senator Javed Jabbar. Hannah Bloch former CNN Islamabad bureau chief and currently the digital editor of international news at National Public Radio also made a keynote speech at the event.
