Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid announced on Friday that steps are being taken to transfer funds directly to the bank accounts of deserving women. This initiative, in line with President Asif Ali Zardari’s directives and in consultation with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), aims to ensure easier, transparent, and dignified access to entitlements.
Khalid emphasized zero tolerance for deductions or mistreatment of beneficiaries and highlighted the establishment of a modern call center with a helpline (0800-26477) for registering and addressing complaints. She also acknowledged the difficulties faced by women in traveling for registration and called for more Mobile Registration Vans to be provided in remote areas.
The BISP Chairperson discussed other initiatives such as Benazir Kafaalat, Taleemi Wazaif, and Nashonuma programs, and announced the launch of the Benazir Skill Training Program to empower women and their families. She emphasized the media’s crucial role in raising awareness about BISP among eligible women.
During her visit to the BISP Chilas office, Khalid met with deserving women, listened to their concerns, and directed staff to address their issues promptly. She also participated in the BISP tree planting initiative, “Green Pakistan-Benazir Pakistan.”
