In a landmark development for Pakistan’s emerging digital economy, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the renowned founder of Binance and a pioneering figure in the global Web3 ecosystem, has officially been appointed as Strategic Advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC). The announcement was made on April 7, 2025, during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, who also serves as Chairman of the PCC.

The gathering marked a major convergence of government and crypto leadership, bringing together key stakeholders including the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and Federal Secretaries for Law and IT. The event showcased the Pakistani government’s increasingly proactive stance on crypto and digital finance.

During his visit, CZ also held separate meetings with the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan, signaling the gravity of his appointment and the country’s ambition to become a serious player in the global Web3 landscape. This marks a new chapter in Pakistan’s approach to digital innovation, one that positions it alongside forward-thinking nations such as Singapore, Switzerland, and the UAE.

“This is a landmark moment for Pakistan,” stated Senator Aurangzeb. “We are sending a clear message to the world: Pakistan is open for innovation. With CZ onboard, we are accelerating our vision to make Pakistan a regional powerhouse for Web3, digital finance, and blockchain-driven growth.”

CZ’s addition to the PCC comes at a time when Pakistan is working to develop a compliant and robust framework for blockchain technology and cryptocurrency adoption. As Strategic Advisor, CZ will play a crucial role in shaping regulatory policies, advising on the development of digital infrastructure, and supporting education and awareness efforts to enable safe and widespread adoption of blockchain technologies.

“Pakistan is opening its doors to the future of finance,” said Bilal Bin Saqib, CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council. “And who better to guide us on this journey than CZ, a pioneer who built the world’s largest crypto exchange and changed the way billions think about financial freedom.”

CZ also expressed his optimism about Pakistan’s potential in the Web3 space. “Pakistan is a country of 240 million people, over 60 percent of whom are under the age of 30. The potential here is limitless,” he said in a statement.

His involvement is expected to catalyze significant movement in the country’s regulatory landscape, opening doors for startups, investors, and developers eager to engage in crypto, blockchain, and DeFi sectors. With an already growing interest in digital finance among Pakistan’s youth, CZ’s strategic input may very well transform the country into a regional leader in Web3 innovation.

The appointment sends a strong message to global markets and investors: Pakistan is ready to embrace the future of finance, and it’s doing so with some of the most influential minds in the industry guiding the way.
