Apple has confirmed that it will rely on Google’s Gemini AI to power its upcoming revamped version of Siri, signaling a multi-year partnership that leverages Google’s AI models and cloud infrastructure. The collaboration was revealed through a statement obtained by CNBC, which indicated that Apple plans to integrate Google’s technology as the foundation for its future Apple Foundation Models. This move follows an extensive internal evaluation of available AI technologies to identify the most capable system for Siri’s next evolution.

According to Apple, the decision to adopt Google’s AI infrastructure followed a thorough assessment of existing options. Apple explained that Google’s Gemini models provide the most robust foundation for creating advanced AI-driven experiences for users. By incorporating Gemini technology, Apple aims to enhance Siri’s capabilities, improving its responsiveness, contextual understanding, and integration with iOS and other Apple devices. The partnership demonstrates Apple’s strategic approach to accelerating AI innovation by leveraging external expertise while maintaining control over user experiences within its ecosystem.

The announcement has generated positive reactions in the market, lifting shares of both Apple and Google. Investors responded favorably to the news, interpreting the collaboration as a step toward advancing AI capabilities for one of Apple’s most widely used services. The decision comes after repeated delays in rolling out an upgraded Siri, which Apple first acknowledged in March of the previous year. At that time, the company projected a launch within the coming year, but the timeline has since remained uncertain. The integration of Google’s Gemini AI may help Apple overcome technical hurdles and bring its AI-enhanced voice assistant to market more effectively.

Apple’s statement emphasized the potential of the partnership to unlock new user experiences, with AI models capable of handling complex tasks, natural language processing, and context-aware responses. While specific details on the rollout of the revamped Siri have not been disclosed, the collaboration with Google positions Apple to compete more aggressively in the AI assistant space. By combining Apple’s hardware and software ecosystem with Gemini’s AI models and cloud infrastructure, Siri is expected to offer more intelligent, responsive, and personalized interactions for millions of users worldwide, reflecting Apple’s commitment to advancing AI technologies while maintaining privacy and user trust.
