According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), all mobile sites impacted by the floods have now been restored, with the exception of 0.8 percent.
The PTA and telecom companies’ efforts to restore connection in flood-affected regions have led to a further drop in the number of non-functional sites, which now stands at 429 (0.8 percent of all sites), according to a statement from the telecom regulator.
The announcement also noted that countrywide connection through optical fibre backhaul has been fully restored. According to the regulator, over 850 teams are working nonstop to maintain and restore telecom services across the country.
PTA said that non-functional sites are inaccessible due to flood water but other operational sites in the vicinity ensure that there is no communication blackout.
On September 3 (Saturday), the affected site’s count was 568. As the water level recedes, complete restoration of all sites will be ensured. PTA will continue to update the public about the restoration of leftover sites, the statement added.
