Air Link Communication Limited plans to launch its electric bike brand, Air EV, on November 4, 2026, with deliveries expected to begin within about a week, as the company seeks to expand into the electric mobility market of Pakistan and to increase local manufacturing gradually. The company disclosed the plan during its annual general meeting, which was attended by Arif Habib Limited (AHL), according to a report from AHL issued on Tuesday. The bikes will use replaceable lithium-ion batteries, and management is targeting up to 95 percent local manufacturing over time. The move marks the expansion of Airlink beyond its core mobile phone business into electric two wheelers, as the company explores new avenues for growth.

According to the report, management plans to source electric bikes initially from international partners that offer competitive pricing, and then to shift gradually to local assembly and manufacturing. The lithium-ion batteries will be procured locally at the start, with the company aiming for localisation of up to 95 percent over time. Earlier in July, the company had announced the establishment of an electric bike manufacturing plant under its own brand. The plan therefore has two stages, with imported bikes first, followed by a move towards production in the country, and the batteries are the part that the company intends to obtain from local sources from the outset.

Airlink is also seeking to expand sales of consumer appliances, and it has established Airfin to provide buy now pay later (BNPL) financing for smartphones, televisions, air conditioners and electric bikes. Management sees significant untapped potential in the BNPL market of Pakistan, and it expects the initiative to support net margins and to offset pressure from slower mobile phone sales. Management believes that BNPL can make new smartphones more affordable through monthly instalments and can help the company compete with the used phone market, which has taken a share of buyers who cannot pay the full price of a new device at once.

The company expects air conditioner sales to reach 65,000 units in 2027 and 95,000 units in 2028, while television sales are projected at 50,000 units in 2027 and 65,000 units in 2028, according to the research note. Airlink Communication Limited was incorporated in Pakistan as a private limited company in January 2014 and was converted into a public limited company in April 2019. It is engaged in the import, export, distribution, indenting, wholesale and retail of communication and IT related products and services, including smartphones, cellular phones, tablets, laptop accessories and related products, and the launch of Air EV on November 4 adds electric bikes to the range of goods that it offers.
