Aga Khan University is set to mark International Supply Chain Professionals Day with a dedicated panel discussion titled “Supply Chain 5.0 – Humans, Technology, and Sustainability” on June 20, 2025. The event will take place from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM and brings together professionals and academics from diverse disciplines to examine how emerging technologies, human-centric strategies, and sustainable practices are shaping the future of supply chain management.

The panel features a distinguished lineup of experts. Miriam Kugele, Director of Environment and Sustainability at AKU, will share her experience in leading sustainability efforts within the institution. With a master’s degree in environmental policy from Oxford and over 16 years in the field, her contribution focuses on integrating sustainable practices into operational frameworks.

Joining her is Jibran Jamshed, Microsoft’s Team Lead for Pakistan, who brings over two decades of experience and currently also oversees education initiatives in Central Asia. His insights are expected to explore the convergence of technology, workforce development, and logistics systems in multi-functional environments.

Dr Rameez Khalid, Associate Professor at IBA, adds academic and consulting experience to the panel with over 20 years in industry, academia, and the development sector. His perspective will likely touch on how evolving digital tools and policy frameworks are transforming supply chain models in both public and private sectors.

Khairunnissa Hooda, Chief Nursing Officer at Aga Khan University Hospitals, brings over 25 years of healthcare leadership. Her expertise lies in healthcare supply chains, strategy, and quality improvement. Her input is anticipated to provide a practical lens on how supply chain strategies directly influence patient care and operational excellence in healthcare delivery.

Malik Ahmed, Director at PSCMD, rounds off the panel with a cross-regional outlook. With more than 20 years of experience in procurement, operations, and supply chain management, he has driven innovation and efficiency for AKDN across several regions. His strategic focus on sector-wide transformation contributes to the panel’s wider theme of organisational agility in supply chain ecosystems.

The session will be moderated by Shirin Zulfiqarali, Manager of Services and Contracts at PSCMD. With more than 20 years of supply chain experience and an MBA from IBA, she currently oversees the centralisation of the new Services and Contracts section. Her role in facilitating the conversation will ensure a balanced discussion between theory, leadership, and ground-level operations.

The event reflects a growing recognition of the importance of supply chain evolution, particularly in a rapidly digitising and sustainability-conscious global economy. The panel is expected to foster exchange across industries and present models of integration that are applicable in healthcare, education, technology, and development sectors alike. By convening thought leaders and decision-makers, the panel aims to highlight practical frameworks for supply chain advancement, rooted in human impact, technology enablement, and long-term resilience.
