Alibaba’s Partner Whale Cloud Hosts Digital Pakistan Summit

Whale Cloud is the strategic partner for cloud services to Alibaba Cloud. Recently they collaborated with the Pakistani Government to organize a massive Digital Pakistan Summit that will emphasize on the importance of IT in a thriving country such as Pakistan.

The event took place at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad on the 17th of December. At the summit hundreds of talented individuals from the arena of technology, innovation and economic development from and China were invited.

Some of the dignitaries that attended the event included Professor Wu from Institute of Science and Technology at Jian gnan University in China, Senior Analyst at HIS Markit Rita Liu, the Director Innovative Business Research at Alibaba Gary Lee. Along with the Minister of IT, Mr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and the members of PM’s IT Task Force, including Zohair Khaliq and Pervez Abbasi also attended the summit.

The aim of the event is to turn Pakistan into the World’s next major Digital Innovation Hub by 2030. The summit attracted as much as 250 distinguished guests and speakers who enlightened the audience. Furthermore, the summit was directed at initiating different impact-driven projects across the Pakistani landscape that primarily engaged the cloud technologies that are offered by Alibaba.

Whale Cloud Technology/Alibaba Group has shown keen interest in the market and has pledged to invest multi $70 Million dollars in Pakistan in the next 2-3 years in cloud infrastructure and smart metropolis ecosystem.

Ben Zhou CEO of Whale Cloud, speaking on the occasion said

“Digital Pakistan is no more a Pakistan is no more a dream, it will become a reality soon”

According to him, Davy Chen, the President of Whale Cloud for South East Asia and that this project would create immense job opportunities for Pakistanis.

The event mostly revolved around seminars and panel discussions topics such as smart cities, ecommerce and pattern recognition. It is to be noted that the entry of Whale Cloud in the Pakistani arena could of really great value considering the company’s specialty in cloud and how this service can disrupt domains including smart cities, mobile payments, delivery services, farming, smart homes and security.
