A high-level meeting on Capital Emergency Services was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters on Friday, chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting reviewed a comprehensive plan aimed at strengthening and modernizing the emergency response framework in Islamabad, reflecting a shift toward greater reliance on technology and improved coordination to ensure rapid, effective service delivery to residents during crises.

Officials briefed participants that consultations are underway with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to secure technical support and advanced equipment. This collaboration is expected to bring in expertise and resources necessary for upgrading the city’s emergency services infrastructure. By integrating modern technologies and enhanced communication systems, the authorities aim to build a service capable of handling a broad range of incidents from urban accidents to natural disasters more efficiently than before.

During the session, it was highlighted that the updated Capital Emergency Services will include the deployment of rescue drones, motorbikes, and specialized vehicles to significantly improve response time and operational reach. A modern Emergency Operations Center will also be established to monitor activities across the city, enabling a centralized command and faster coordination among rescue teams. Authorities emphasized that this new facility will serve as a nerve center for emergency management, using real-time data and advanced communication channels to better direct resources where they are most needed.

Forest fire preparedness also emerged as a key focus area in the meeting. The use of state-of-the-art drone surveillance will enhance monitoring and early detection of fires in vulnerable areas. In addition, the construction of strategically placed watchtowers is planned to support round-the-clock observation and strengthen the city’s ability to prevent and respond to such incidents before they escalate. This combination of aerial and on-ground monitoring is expected to provide a more reliable and timely alert system, reducing risks to both property and human life.

Officials confirmed that a suitable site has already been identified for the Emergency Operations Center, marking a significant step toward implementing these plans. With drones, specialized vehicles, and enhanced coordination, Islamabad’s emergency services are on track to become more technologically advanced and responsive, ensuring residents benefit from improved safety measures and rapid assistance in times of need.
