National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) to launch a specialized training program in Digital Design Verification. The initiative is being supported by the Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoITT) and is a joint effort of NUST’s Professional Development Centre (PDC) and the NUST Chip Design Centre (CDC). This strategic collaboration highlights the growing emphasis on building advanced skill sets in the semiconductor sector, a key focus area for Pakistan’s future-ready digital economy.
The program is structured as a comprehensive 5-month on-campus course that will be conducted at the NUST Chip Design Centre, a facility equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure and resources. The curriculum combines classroom-based instruction with practical lab sessions and culminates in a capstone project. Participants will be mentored by industry experts and experienced academics, offering hands-on exposure to digital design workflows, verification techniques, and the use of modern design tools.
This initiative reinforces NUST’s commitment to driving capacity building in high-tech domains, particularly in semiconductor design and related digital technologies. By aligning academic capabilities with industry requirements, the program aims to produce a skilled workforce capable of meeting the growing demand for digital design engineers in Pakistan and beyond. It also contributes directly to national objectives focused on fostering a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy.
The collaboration with PSEB and support from MoITT demonstrates a strong alignment between academia, government, and the technology industry to develop specialized talent in critical areas of the IT sector. It underscores the importance of investing in human capital development to enhance Pakistan’s positioning in global technology supply chains. NUST, through its Chip Design Centre and Professional Development Centre, continues to serve as a national platform for advancing research, innovation, and skills in emerging tech verticals.
By launching this program, PSEB further strengthens its mission of expanding Pakistan’s IT workforce and enhancing its competitiveness in global export markets. This training also reflects MoITT’s broader agenda to promote local expertise in design and verification processes essential to chip development and electronic systems engineering.
The Digital Design Verification training initiative is part of a broader strategic push to localize advanced technical training in Pakistan, with the goal of nurturing a pipeline of engineers ready to contribute to semiconductor innovation. As the demand for integrated circuit and system-on-chip professionals grows globally, such efforts are timely and vital to secure Pakistan’s place in the evolving landscape of advanced digital technologies.
