Mobilink – Government’s Pet Peeve
Mobilink received the Highest Tax Payer Award by the Pakistan Customs, Islamabad Directorate. The award was distributed at a ceremony held at the Islamabad Dry Port celebrating “International Customs Day.” Mobilink has paid approximately PKR 1.159 billion in the shape of Customs Duty, Sales Tax and Income Tax in the year of 2013.
Government Needs to Reconsider Telecom Policy – PEW
PEW asked the government to revisit policy of suspension of mobile phone service in sensitive areas. Successive governments have been following policy of suspending telecom services in different areas before any event or only on a tip of increasing terrorist attacks.
It is becoming detrimental to the country in the lack of Telecom revenue that is being generated.
Entries Thundering in for Peshawar Civic Hackathon
Nearly 200 people will be taking part in the Civic Hackathon at the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar starting from January 31 to February 2. 60 people will be invited to take part in the event, from which three winning teams will be selected, each team comprising of four to five people. They will develop prototypes of their innovative projects.
Anusha Rehman Scored on Performance
Bolo bhi conducted a scorecard for the State Minister for Information Technology & Telecom, Ms Anusha Rahman Khan. The scorecard is based on the performance of key duties by the Minister in her first six months in office. The collective score is based on input by industry and civil society members.
Warid Bleeds Out for Thalassaemia Patients
Warid Telecom arranged 2nd blood camp for Thalassaemia patients in collaboration with Sundas Foundation. Warid employees donated 43 blood bags to the children suffering from this horrifying disease.
