Zong Offers Free Connectivity Support For Flood-Affected Areas Across Punjab

Zong, Pakistan’s leading technology-driven telecom operator, has extended vital free communication resources to communities recently hit by floods across multiple regions of Punjab. The initiative is designed to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for families living in disaster-stricken areas, particularly those along the Sutlej, Chenab, and Ravi rivers where rising water levels have displaced residents and disrupted normal life. Through this relief measure, Zong is providing 30 free on-net minutes and SMS to individuals in the most severely impacted districts, including Bahawalnagar, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, and Sialkot. The operator emphasized that the provision of these resources is intended to support those who urgently need to remain in touch with loved ones and to reach emergency services during one of the toughest humanitarian challenges the region has faced this year.

The company has a consistent history of stepping forward in times of crisis, and this latest announcement follows a similar initiative rolled out earlier for flood-affected communities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Zong’s swift response demonstrates its understanding of the critical role mobile communication plays during natural disasters, where connectivity becomes not just a convenience but a lifeline. Residents in flood-hit areas often struggle with limited access to infrastructure, clean water, and medical support, making mobile networks the primary means of coordination, safety updates, and family contact. By offering free calling minutes and text messages, Zong has lowered a key barrier to communication, ensuring that even in disrupted circumstances, people remain informed and connected.

Sajid Munir, Director Marketing at Zong, expressed the company’s sense of responsibility towards the communities it serves, stressing that the operator’s mission extends beyond providing innovative telecom services. He noted that standing by the people of Pakistan in difficult times is part of Zong’s broader corporate ethos. His remarks highlighted the telecom provider’s belief that access to communication during disasters is an essential service, particularly in regions where families are separated, emergency rescues are ongoing, and relief workers rely on timely updates. In practice, such interventions mean individuals can quickly alert authorities of emergencies, coordinate with relatives, and access critical information, creating a more resilient community response.
