Yango Pakistan, part of global technology company Yango Group, has partnered with NowPDP, a non profit organization, to introduce Baikhtiyar Pakistan, an inclusive mobility and livelihood initiative aimed at creating earning opportunities for persons with disabilities through the Yango platform. The program is designed to promote financial independence by reducing structural barriers that often limit workforce participation for persons with disabilities, particularly within the ride hailing and mobility sector in Pakistan.
The initiative reflects Yango Group’s broader commitment to supporting economic empowerment across its operational markets. Under the first phase of the program, Yango Pakistan has distributed five retrofitted rickshaws to persons with disabilities shortlisted by NowPDP. These vehicles have been adapted to ensure accessibility and ease of operation, enabling beneficiaries to generate income through the Yango platform. The company has indicated plans to scale the initiative further, with future phases expected to expand the fleet and reach more individuals seeking sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The launch ceremony was held at the NowPDP Centre of Excellence for Disability Inclusion in Karachi and was inaugurated by Sindh Provincial Minister for Labour, Information and Human Resources, Mr. Saeed Ghani. The event was attended by senior government officials, representatives from multiple international embassies, and management teams from both Yango Pakistan and NowPDP. The gathering highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors in advancing inclusive economic participation.
Speaking at the event, Miral Sharif, Country Head at Yango Pakistan, emphasized that disability should not become a barrier between ambition and opportunity. She stated that persons with disabilities are equally capable and that the company is committed to promoting sustainable earning opportunities within Pakistan’s ride hailing industry. She noted that the program marks the beginning of a broader journey focused on digital inclusion and expanding partnerships that create meaningful empowerment. Amin Hashwani, President of NowPDP, underlined the systemic importance of public private collaboration in driving Pakistan’s inclusion agenda. He highlighted that while initiatives such as Baikhtiyar Pakistan demonstrate the positive intersection of innovation and social development, sustainable progress also requires forward looking legislation that supports active workforce participation of persons with disabilities. Through Baikhtiyar Pakistan, Yango Pakistan aims to align technology driven services with inclusive growth, reinforcing its role as a partner in enabling equitable economic opportunity across communities.
