Xiaomi has expanded its wearable lineup in China with the launch of the Xiaomi Watch 5, introduced alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The new smartwatch reflects Xiaomi’s continued focus on combining premium materials with advanced health tracking and long battery life, positioning the Watch 5 as a feature rich option in the upper mid range smartwatch segment.

The Xiaomi Watch 5 features a stainless steel case paired with a 1.54 inch circular AMOLED display that delivers a 480 by 480 pixel resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. The screen is rated for up to 1,500 nits of peak brightness, making it suitable for outdoor visibility. Xiaomi has opted for synthetic sapphire crystal glass on both the front and back of the watch, reinforcing durability while maintaining a polished appearance. The device measures 12.3mm in thickness and weighs 56 grams without the strap, aiming to balance a solid build with everyday comfort. It also carries a 5ATM water resistance rating, allowing it to handle swimming and daily exposure to water. Xiaomi is offering the Watch 5 in silver and black case finishes, with multiple strap options including a standard rubber strap, a leather band, and a 3D printed titanium strap made from TC4 titanium alloy. The titanium strap is sold separately and is available in black and silver to match the watch case. Out of the box, the Watch 5 runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3, integrating it into the company’s broader software ecosystem.

On the performance side, the Watch 5 uses a dual chip architecture that combines the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 system on a chip with a Hengxuan 2800 low power chipset. This setup is designed to balance performance and efficiency, allowing the watch to handle demanding tasks while preserving battery life during lighter usage. Xiaomi has equipped the smartwatch with a comprehensive set of health and fitness features, including continuous heart rate monitoring, ECG, blood oxygen tracking, stress measurement, and sleep tracking. The device supports more than 150 sports modes and includes full color offline maps, expanding its appeal to runners and outdoor enthusiasts. Additional running focused features are built in, while Xiaomi also highlights the ECG sensor’s ability to assist with navigation by detecting hand muscle signals. This functionality enables gesture based controls such as answering calls, dismissing alarms, taking photos remotely, and managing music playback, reducing the need for frequent screen interaction.

Battery life is a key focus of the Xiaomi Watch 5, which houses a 930mAh battery. According to Xiaomi, the watch can deliver up to six days of usage under normal conditions, while switching to power saving mode can extend battery life up to 18 days. In terms of connectivity, the smartwatch supports Bluetooth 5.4, Wi Fi, NFC, GPS, and eSIM, allowing for standalone communication without a paired smartphone on compatible models. Pricing in China starts at $285 for the variant with a rubber strap. The leather strap version is exclusive to the eSIM model, which is priced at $330. The optional 3D printed titanium strap is sold separately for $110. With its combination of premium materials, advanced sensors, and extended battery claims, the Xiaomi Watch 5 strengthens Xiaomi’s position in the increasingly competitive smartwatch market.
