Xiaomi has launched the Mijia Pocket Photo Printer Pro Gift Box in China, offering a portable photo printing package that combines high-resolution prints with augmented reality features. Priced at approximately $119, the new bundle includes the Mijia Pocket Photo Printer Pro in an exclusive light purple finish, a magnetic photo frame and a carrying bag. The standard printer was previously launched at around $90, making the Gift Box approximately $30 more expensive. The new package is aimed at users who want to print photographs from their smartphones and preserve them in physical formats while adding digital content to their memories.

The printer uses dye-sublimation technology to produce photographs at a resolution of 313 dots per inch (dpi). It supports 16.7 million colours and 256 levels of grey, allowing it to reproduce a wide range of tones in printed images. Each photograph is automatically laminated during the printing process, providing a protective layer intended to help resist everyday moisture and slow fading over time. These features make the device suitable for printing personal photographs, travel memories and small keepsakes without relying on a conventional desktop printer. Its compact design also makes it easier to carry and use outside the home, although users will still need compatible photo paper and access to the printer’s companion app.

One of the printer’s notable features is its support for augmented reality content. Through Xiaomi’s companion application, users can associate a video or audio recording with a printed photograph. Friends and family can then scan the corresponding QR code to access the linked digital content, combining a physical photograph with a multimedia experience. The application also offers editing tools, including filters, custom borders, watermarks and collage templates, allowing users to personalise images before printing. Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity enables wireless printing, and the device supports simultaneous use by up to three people. The AR video and audio capabilities were already available on the standard Mijia Pocket Photo Printer Pro, meaning the new Gift Box primarily adds accessories and a different colour option rather than introducing a new set of printing functions.

The included accessories distinguish the Gift Box from the standard model. Its photo frame can be placed on a desk or attached to a refrigerator using a built-in magnet, and it can hold up to 20 prints. The accompanying carrying bag has separate compartments for the printer and its consumables, making it easier to transport the equipment and keep supplies organised. Xiaomi has not announced availability outside China, so international customers will need to wait for further information about a possible wider launch. The release reflects continued interest in compact printing devices that combine physical photographs with smartphone-based editing and digital features. For consumers, the main consideration will be whether the additional accessories justify the higher price compared with the standard printer.
