Shell Tameer and NED University in collaboration with the DICE Foundation USA recently organized a business plan competition called the ‘Tameer DICE Shark’ at NED University, Karachi.
The aim of the event was to encourage young innovators to develop a cleaner and greener energy future for Pakistan. The event showcased 35 young innovators from eight engineering universities from all over Pakistan.
The final round saw to 15 student finalists who pitched their innovations in front of a panel of six judges i.e. Dr. Mohammad Kamran Mumtaz, Chairperson Management, IBA; Dr Najam Anjum, Assistant Professor, IBA; Mukesh Kumar, Provincial Chief, SMEDA Sindh; Sarosh Haider, Founder and CTO mrigroup.net; Mr. Muhammad Ali Sheikh, Shell Pakistan Limited; and Daniyal Naiyer.
Furthermore, the top five business ideas received seed capital and will be further developed, with the support of Shell Tameer to help them transform into commercially viable enterprises.

In order to help the startups prepare for their presentations in the final round, the Tameer DICE Shark contestants were trained through a day-long Shell Tameer workshop called ‘How to Pitch Your Ideas’.
The focus of Shell Tameer is on enterprise development and to provide budding young entrepreneurs with access to essential business knowledge and customized support to transform their ideas into a viable and sustainable business. Moreover, the program also contributes to national economic growth by promoting entrepreneurship development.
