The Supreme Court of Pakistan has been facing a major backlog issue with regards to cases, therefore, in order to resolve the problem for once and for all, the court has decided to set-up an e-court system.
The system is to be established in Islamabad. It is reported that through the system, lawyers from all four registries of the apex court would be able to present arguments via video-link facility. The decision to set up an e-court system was made on Wednesday with the newly appointed Chief Justice, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa in the chair.
Furthermore, the are also design special branches to deal with the different categories of cases. At the meeting, the attendants agreed that the adjourning of hearings should be discouraged, the appeals should be fixed in chronological order and that the reviews must be fixed in the next week given the availability of the author.
