The Usman Institute of Technology’s DICE Student Chapter recently organized their annual Virtual Innovation Competition (VIC). The competition was aimed at cultivating the spirit of innovation among the participants by encouraging them to think of innovative solutions to common problems.

VIC provided a platform for the participants to pitch their ideas in front of a panel of industry experts and existing entrepreneurs for further assessments of their ideas. The judges for the competition were: Owais Mangalwala, Senior Producer, HUM TV; Rizwan Khan, Founder BIStructures, Interim Manager Global Investment, Sasi Group; Saif Akhter, Co-Founder & CEO, 10xC.pk and StartupSpace.pk; Riaz Ahmed, Manager at 10xc; Kashif Jameel, Principal Strategist Xcelliti; and Dr. Sajjad Hussain, Head of telecommunication department at Hamdard University.

The VIC consisted of two rounds. The first round consisted of pitches where each team was given 2 minutes to verbally present their idea in front of the panel of judges. During this round the judges screened out 35 teams, leaving out only 5.

Whereas the second round allowed the teams to visually represent their ideas, i.e. through presentations. Each team was granted 5 minutes. The presentations consisted of complete business models of the ideas, i.e. covering each and every aspect of the business and its feasibility.

EAnalytics, Safe Journey, and Anatomy 3D came out first, second and third respectively at the event.
