Blockchain is the technology of the future. By 2023, the global blockchain industry is expected to reach US$23.3 billion, reflecting an 81 percent CAGR. Pakistan’s IT industry is also quickly expanding. On average, 20,000 IT graduates enter the computer industry each year. In the first quarter of FY 2021 alone, our IT exports surpassed the $2 billion mark.
That is a promising sign for Pakistan’s tech sector in the future, but we must continue to build our economy. This can only be accomplished if our kids are actively involved in global trends. With a surging youth bulge and 64 percent of the population under the age of 30, now is the ideal time to take action.
Enabling our youth to equip themselves with the trends in blockchain technology and bring themselves at par with the world, Stacks Pakistan is holding the first edition of its annual blockchain conference, XPLORE 1.0, on the 15th of August at COLABS, Lahore. The conference is being held to celebrate and discuss the latest developments in Blockchain technology in Pakistan and around the globe.
The major goal is to promote blockchain adoption as quickly as possible. XPLORE wants to keep you up to date on the latest Blockchain technology advancements, with subjects spanning from Clarity to Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Stacks Pakistan is the local chapter of ‘Stacks’ (an international blockchain firm headquartered out of the United States co-founded by Dr. Muneeb Ali), which was launched in November 2020 with the objective of revolutionising the internet.
“One thing we’ve long believed is that Bitcoin can’t have smart contracts and can’t be used for anything. This is something that Stacks has debunked. The Stacks developer community has been blown away over the last several weeks by the fact that you can engage directly with smart contracts if you perform transactions on Bitcoin, which is tremendously powerful,” says Dr. Muneeb Ali, Co-founder and CEO of Hiro Systems PBC.
Right now, not many people are aware of this, and the larger Bitcoin community is unaware of it as well, but this is where the opportunity lies. It’s an exciting time for all of us, and we’ve only scratched the surface,” he says.
Stacks is a decentralised computer network ecosystem that makes Bitcoin programmable, allowing developers to create blockchain-based applications, protocols, and tools. Dr. Muneeb Ali, a proponent of Pakistan’s technical advancement, has brought his invention to his birthplace, Stacks Pakistan, to make blockchain and cryptocurrency popular in the country, raising awareness and training budding developers on Clarity.
Stacks’ own smart contract language, driven by Bitcoin, is called Clarity. Clarity is one of the world’s fastest-growing smart contract languages, with the goal of better protecting developers and end-users.
