UIT University students secured both the Winner and Runner-Up positions in the Lightweight RoboWar competition at Indus RAS Expo 2026, achieving what the university described as a double victory against 16 competing teams from leading universities across Pakistan. The result marks a strong showing for the Karachi based university at one of the country’s more prominent robotics and autonomous systems competitions.
RoboWar competitions, which involve teams designing and building custom robots to compete against each other in a controlled arena, have become an increasingly popular format for showcasing engineering talent at technology exhibitions across Pakistan. Competing in the lightweight category, UIT University’s teams outperformed their rivals to claim both top positions, a result the university attributed to the combined efforts of its students, mentors, and faculty members.
The Indus RAS Expo 2026, where the competition was held, forms part of a broader push by the Pakistani government to promote robotics and autonomous systems as a strategic technology priority, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif having addressed the exhibition’s inaugural ceremony and announced new initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s indigenous innovation ecosystem. Student competitions held alongside the main exhibition have served as a platform for university teams to demonstrate practical engineering capabilities in front of industry and government stakeholders attending the event.
UIT University described the achievement as reflecting the spirit of innovation, technical excellence, teamwork, and perseverance that it seeks to instill among its student body, extending recognition to the winning teams for bringing pride to the university community. The result adds to a growing list of student achievements at national robotics and technology competitions in Pakistan, reflecting the increasing prominence of hands on robotics training within university engineering programs across the country.
