The declining revenues of Mobilink

The revenues of Mobilink have declined in the first quarter of 2014:  The revenue generated by Mobilink in its first quarter is Rs. 26 billion. The revenue has declined from 28.5 billion to 26 billion. This decline has been recorded for the first time in the history of Mobilink. It has been pronounced by the experts that the decline is due to the notable depreciation in the local currency or it may be the increased completion in the market. The average revenue per users has declined to Rs.216 from Rs.249. And the Average minutes consumed per user per month has declined to 213 from 233. The data services has increased to 1 billion from 0.8 billion that was in the 1st quarter of 2013.

Social media applications to be blocked in Sindh

Sindh government to aim at blocking all the social media apps:   For the reviewing of law and order situation in Pakistan a high level meeting was held in Karachi yesterday. The meeting was attended by Main Nawaz Sharif as well.  To maintain law and order in the country the prime minister asked the concerned authorities to block the unregistered SIMs in order to avoid all kind of terrorism and criminal activities in the country. He further pronounced that the government can also block the social media applications in Pakistan in this regard. The meeting was attended by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari as well. The experts have said that this is not possible because IP addresses in Pakistan aren’t associated with geolocation, hence this action cannot be taken. The authorities further added that no SIM should be registered without biometric verification system.

Telecom operators ready for the tax payment

Telecom operators have agreed to the decision of the 10% advance tax to the PTA:  In the past, FBR had asked PTA to collect 10 % of the tax from the telecom companies for the issuance of 3G&4G license, to which the telecom companies refused earlier. But now the telecom companies have agreed to the decision. This decision proceeded under the 236A of income tax, ordinance 2001. It has been reported the telecom companies are to pay 10 billion by June 30 2014. The Finance Minister has declared that government will provide with all kind of assistance and guidance in this regard.
