A depletion in the Taxes on Telecom Sector

The Federal Government has finally, after a long struggle by the Telecom Sector, announced a reduction in the taxes eligible to them.  According to Mr. Ishaq Dar’s budget speech for the year 2014-2015, a reduction in the taxes eligible to the telecom sector has been announced. It has been reported that the percentage on the withholding taxes on Telecom services will be reduced from 15% to 14%. The government further announced that the FED will also be removed from the provinces that have GST tax on their telecom services. Also the areas in which FED is applicable, their GST will be reduced from 19.5% to 18.5%. It has been reported that application will begin from July 1st 2014.

PTCL ensuring continuous High-Speed Connectivity

PTCL has limited the data usage to 30 GB per month from 75 GB.  It has been reported that this forethought has taken birth just to ensure the continuous high-speed wireless broadband connectivity all across the country. PTCL has over 1 million EVO customers. This limitation is for all, including Rev.A and Rev.B (EVO and Nitro) devices including EVO Wingle, EVO 9.3, EVO 3.1, EVO Tab and EVO cloud devices.

Pakistan has been allocated Rs 555.739 million for IT and Telecom Sector (TS)

In Public Sector Development Programme Pakistan has been allocated with Rs 555.739 million for its ongoing and upcoming projects.  This has been announced for the fiscal year 2014-15. Out of Rs. 555.739 million, Rs. 434.739 million is going to be used for the the ongoing projects, while Rs. 121 million is applicable to the upcoming projects. To ensure the transparency, Rs. 100 million will be spent for the formation of E-government, this is one of the major project of Pakistan. It has also been reported that Rs. 20 million will be spent for the construction of Optical Fiber Cable System between China and Pakistan for international connectivity of voice and data traffic. Ishaq Dar further pronounced that the investment in IT is directly related to economic growth. In this regard, a number of USF programs have been announced.

3G enabled- Nokia Lumia 630

Mobilink instigates Nokia Lumia 630 in collaboration with Nokia to provide services to its customers. The intend behind this action is to provide 3G services to the Mobilink customers. Aamer Manzoor, Head of Data Mobilink pronounced that collaboration with Nokia is one step forward in enhancing the Mobilink 3G services portfolio. This handset possesses windows 8.1 along with 4.5 inch display and 1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor. The price for this exhilarating hand set has been announced which is just 17,600.
