Nanotechnology to be Established Soon

The Pakistan Foundation for Nanotechnology would formulate five and 10-year plans for nanotechnology and help entrepreneurs set up new companies.  The official said the ministry was planning to set up a centralized national research facility for developing nanotechnologies and products.

Plan to Strengthen PCST and NCST

The Ministry of Science and Technology is strengthening Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST) in terms of establishment of a cell within PCST, to deal with NCST matters.  The PCST is acting as a secretariat of NCST, scientific data collection centre, and science and technology (S&T) policy advice think-tank to encourage high performance in S&T workers.

 

PTA to put 4G Spectrum on Sale

Islamabad likely to sell 4G spectrum as it carries out the much-awaited license auction for the next-generation mobile internet services this March. The Information Memorandum (IM) currently is in its final stages and includes recommendation for selling some spectrum in 1,800 megahertz (MHz). A team of international consultants from Value Partners Management Consulting Limited and PTA is working on it.

Wateen Awarded a three-year Contract by SBP 

Wateen has been awarded a three-year Managed Services contract by the State Bank of Pakistan to provide VSAT Hub & Spoke operations, field maintenance and technical support to its offices.  Wateen’s VSAT Bandwidth on PAKSAT Satellite will connect 15 State Bank sites. This will reduce the costs on distributed backend operations of State Bank of Pakistan.
