Tetra Pak has introduced its next-generation Automation and Digitalisation portfolio, Tetra Pak Factory OS, at Gulfood Manufacturing in Dubai, bringing AI-enabled smart factory technologies to food and beverage producers globally, including Pakistan. This new platform offers modular, scalable, and open solutions designed to enhance operational efficiency, support sustainability, and lay the foundation for AI-driven manufacturing. Factory OS combines deep industry expertise with advanced technologies to help F&B companies manage production challenges and prepare for the future of smart, connected factories.

A comparative study by Tetra Pak highlights that highly automated beverage factories outperform less automated facilities by 20% in overall equipment effectiveness, reduce product waste by 45%, and experience 20% fewer packaging line stops. Despite these benefits, many manufacturers struggle to adopt automation due to limited digital expertise and difficulty finding providers offering end-to-end solutions with sector knowledge. Factory OS addresses these gaps by integrating production data, predictive controls, and energy monitoring, enabling companies to optimize processes, reduce downtime, and enhance product quality.

In Pakistan, the F&B manufacturing sector faces persistent challenges, including high energy costs, outdated equipment, and limited access to digital tools, all of which hinder productivity. Energy shortfalls and transmission inefficiencies, as reported by NEPRA’s State of Industry Report 2024, place additional constraints on continuous-process operations. Tetra Pak Factory OS provides solutions to mitigate these challenges through real-time analytics, predictive maintenance, and automated workflow management. For energy-intensive sectors like dairy and beverage processing, these capabilities can significantly improve resilience, operational continuity, and cost control.

Awais Bin Nasim, Managing Director of Tetra Pak Pakistan, said that while the sector holds immense growth potential, inefficiencies and fragmented data remain obstacles. He emphasized that Factory OS allows manufacturers to make data-driven decisions, streamline operations, and reduce waste, while supporting sustainability and energy efficiency goals. Designed for flexibility, the platform enables producers to start small, scale gradually, and adapt the solution to their unique needs, making it suitable for a wide range of facility sizes and production models.

By combining automation, digitalisation, and AI readiness, Tetra Pak Factory OS positions Pakistan’s F&B sector to enhance competitiveness and embrace modern manufacturing practices. The platform’s global introduction aligns with local requirements, offering tools that address operational inefficiencies and energy challenges while enabling manufacturers to leverage digital technologies. For producers in Pakistan, Factory OS represents a significant step toward smarter, more efficient, and sustainable food and beverage production, supporting long-term growth in the industry.
