At its 345 campus, Telenor Pakistan received a delegation of Blockchain professionals from the BSV Blockchain Association.

The goal of the visit was to discuss the possibility for future collaboration in technologies that can empower every part of society, using Blockchain as an example.
The BSV Blockchain Association is a non-profit organisation based in Switzerland that promotes Blockchain education and adoption in the public and private sectors.
The delegation was led by James Nguyen, the BSV Association’s Founding President, who expressed the organisation’s interest in funding several Blockchain initiatives in Pakistan, including creating awareness and training programmes for government decision-makers, as well as providing advice on the country’s ‘National Blockchain Strategy.’

In addition, the programme will offer training in areas such as legal consultation in developing a regulatory framework for digital assets, Blockchain implementation in a government body, knowledge collaboration, and bootcamps with universities to generate Blockchain technology experts.

Commenting on the occasion of the delegation’s visit, Irfan Wahab Khan, CEO Telenor Pakistan, stated, “In our position as an innovative and technologically driven, global entity, we are pleased to have hosted the esteemed delegation of Blockchain experts at Telenor 345 campus.”

“We grow by learning and it is always promising to collaborate with experts in innovative fields while building bridges to enable collaboration and fortify the economy. This opportunity and possibilities of Blockchain are bound to have a socio-economic impact in the years to come, and we look forward to stepping into Digital Pakistan, with high hopes and positive impact,” he added.

While still in its infancy, Blockchain technology has the potential to enable decentralised and secure information storage and transit. In practically every industry, from energy to shipping to media, Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) are gradually replacing old business models.
Making micropayments to consume entertainment is an example of Blockchain in everyday use. In Pakistan, a large-scale Blockchain deployment would result in minimal friction, a huge increase in customer trust, and, most significantly, empowered, connected people with a common vision of a successful Digital Pakistan.
