Telenor Pakistan has enabled Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology on its network. Prior to the upgrade, Telenor conducted a successful VoLTE trial with its employees and is now all set to bring the benefits of VoLTE to its diverse customer base.

VoLTE is a standards-based technology that is required to support voice calls over an LTE network which ensures high-quality voice using the advance IMS core solution. With VoLTE consumers will be able to make calls via 4G data network and will be able to use voice and data at the same time, have instant call connection between VoLTE calls and significantly reduce call connection between VoLTE as compared to non-VoLTE users on traditional calls.

The VoLTE solution by Telenor is developed on an OpenSource platform and has been customized and developed in-house and deployed on the DevOps model.  Furthermore, it also to enable Telenor Pakistan to offer tailored solutions to its customers as well as provide add-on services to them with efficiency and agility.

Khurrum Ashfaque, Chief Technology Officer, Telenor Pakistan, speaking on the occasion said,

“Telenor Pakistan has always been a frontrunner in the growth of technology and innovation, introducing the country’s first 4.5G network and having a diverse portfolio of digital products. With total mobile subscriptions within the country crossing the 150 million mark, it has become imperative for organizations such as Telenor Pakistan to come up with viable and efficient solutions that help our consumers save time and get more value for money. With VoLTE, we hope to bring Pakistan into a new era of technological innovation by enabling our customers to fully reap the benefits of flawless communication.”

According to him, Telenor Pakistan will soon be integrating VoLTE on all of its 4G Infinity handsets and will continue to work with other handset manufacturers in order to bring an improved calling experience over LTE for the first time to the people of Pakistan.
