Telenor Asia’s second-year study of ‘Digital Lives Decoded’ sheds light on the driving forces behind mobile device usage, emphasizing the importance of healthy social connections, new opportunities, online safety, skill development, and environmental consciousness.
Following the inaugural study in 2022, conducted amidst the global pandemic, Digital Lives Decoded 2023 offers a deeper understanding of mobile usage’s impact on daily life, particularly in Pakistan and other key Asian markets.
Based on feedback from over 8,000 mobile users across Asia, this year’s report underscores the increasing reliance on mobile devices for managing finances, accessing educational and healthcare content, and facilitating daily tasks like food and grocery delivery.
In Pakistan, mobile device usage is expected to surge over the next few years, with a strong focus on accessing educational and healthcare resources. Khurram Ashfaque, CEO of Telenor Pakistan, highlights the transformative potential of mobile technology in reshaping work dynamics and fostering economic growth.
Despite the benefits, concerns about overuse, privacy, security, and digital skills persist among Pakistani mobile users. The study reveals a significant proportion of users feeling they are overusing their devices and encountering fake news on social media platforms. Moreover, while confident in their digital skills, many express concerns about keeping pace with technological advancements.
These findings underscore the intricate relationship Pakistanis have with their mobile devices, highlighting the need for continuous digital upskilling and vigilant attention to digital well-being and security.
