Tech Valley Pakistan conducted Digital Pasban Town Halls at Beaconhouse Margalla Campus and Beaconhouse Newlands Campus in Islamabad, bringing together parents, teachers and section heads for conversations on children’s digital safety and well-being. The sessions were designed to give parents and educators practical tools and guidance for supporting children as they navigate an increasingly digital learning and social environment. The sessions introduced parents to the Digital Pasban Toolkit, which is built around four key pillars. The first, Family Link, helps parents manage screen time and app access, giving them more direct oversight of how their children interact with devices throughout the day. The second, YouTube Shorts, focuses on promoting age appropriate and safer viewing experiences, addressing concerns around children encountering unsuitable content while browsing short form video platforms.
The third pillar, Be Internet Awesome, is aimed at building essential digital citizenship skills for children, helping them develop good habits and judgment as they spend more time online rather than relying solely on external restrictions imposed by parents. The fourth pillar, SafeSearch, supports safer and more responsible online exploration, giving children a filtered search experience that reduces the likelihood of encountering inappropriate content while researching topics or browsing the internet. Together, these four pillars combine both restrictive tools, such as screen time management, with educational components aimed at building children’s own digital judgment over time, giving parents a more rounded approach than relying on a single safety feature alone.
Beyond introducing the toolkit itself, the sessions also offered practical guidance on creating safer and more supportive digital learning environments for children, extending the conversation beyond individual tools into broader strategies parents and schools can adopt together. Tech Valley said the active participation, thoughtful questions and feedback from parents made these conversations especially meaningful, highlighting the growing importance of digital safety awareness at home and in schools as children spend increasing amounts of time on connected devices for both education and entertainment.
The Digital Pasban Town Halls are intended to create spaces where parents and educators can build the awareness and confidence needed to help children navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. Tech Valley has indicated it is open to bringing future Digital Pasban Town Halls to other institutes that are interested, suggesting the programme is designed to expand beyond the two Beaconhouse campuses where these initial sessions were held, extending similar digital safety conversations to a wider network of schools going forward. Interested institutions can reach out to Tech Valley directly through the contact details the company has shared to arrange a session for their own parent and teacher community.
