Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja met with Ms. Esther Perez Ruiz, the Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Pakistan, on Friday.
The meeting focused on a comprehensive discussion regarding Pakistan’s digitalization process and the state of the country’s IT and Telecommunication sector. Ms. Khawaja emphasized the government’s commitment to digital transformation outlined in the National Digitalization Plan.
“Connectivity, fiber optic infrastructure, and widespread availability of digital devices are fundamental building blocks for a successful digitalization strategy,” stated Ms. Khawaja.
She further highlighted the government’s prioritization of digitalization in key sectors like healthcare, education, and agriculture, emphasizing its potential to uplift the nation. Ms. Khawaja expressed optimism about the vast potential and opportunities within Pakistan’s IT sector, pointing to the consistent growth in IT exports.
“The Prime Minister’s vision prioritizes facilitating the private sector to further propel our IT industry,” she said. Ms. Khawaja concluded by reaffirming the Ministry of IT’s commitment to collaborative efforts with the IT and Telecom industry to achieve digitalization goals.
