He’s out there, he is being talked about. He is a smashing success, yes dear readers, you have got it right. This blog post is on Gullu butt, our newly revived superhero of the Gandasa culture. While Bilal Lashari may still be thinking of producing a movie on Maula Jutt, Gullu Butt is at it already, a step further in promoting his venture. There have been rumors of Gullu Butt being casted in his upcoming venture but Lashari denied the charges. He clarified the air by telling the audience that the cast has not been selected yet. So behold, till the casting of the film is done but don’t be disappointed, Gullu butt has made his way to other media.

He is now present on social media due to his picturesque stunt of smashing cars. The facebook page run by unknown sources features Gullu defeating the enemy with a Gandasa and smacking the living daylights out of the enemy. Another title which this moustached man holds is Sher-e-Lahore (Lion of Lahore).

Gullu is spotted across social media smashing as*** in world war, hitting the running Simran while she is running to catch the train in DDLJ. The power of gullu is not limited to people but the ground breaking reality has been unearthed that Gullu sank the titanic and caused the 9/11 mayhem.

Here are some visual being rotated in the social media:

Pulling jokes at everything is a just a very Pakistani habit and Gullu has become the butt of all jokes. While his clan is embarrassed to acknowledge him as a family member and having claimed to disown him, techies are turning him into a super hero.

The phase 2 of Gullu’s existence entailed when an application is made available for download on Google play store which allows to user to act as Gullu virtually. The timing for the launch of this app was apt considering as he is the butt of all debates. The Lahore based Weird science game developers took a smart advantage of this situation and designed this app.  Punch lines such as “Unleash the Gullu in you” are being floated around the media. The game offers a simple yet realistic view of the incident which took place outside TUQ’s house in Model Town Lahore. The game graphics show Gullu smashing a car while the police men and a lion sit nearby watching him to do.

The game is mimicry of the whole incident raising concerns among people that the police force legally entitled to stop such inhuman acts became the audience. Terms such as ‘police tout’ sprouted up and this hooligan was allowed to walk away without being held accountable. The last time I heard the term ‘police tout’ was in the The lady of Alice Bhatti by Mohammad Hanif. The books sets up to create such a scenario where such ‘touts’ were used to get hold of criminals.

Gullu has seen transitions of his existence in the past one week, from a fictional character to social media celebrity, a game character to an example being used by many to refer to a violent person. Gullu’s future looks hopeful with the fading hope of the public in the law and order system of the country.
