Sindh Information Technology Company Chief Executive Officer Zainulabedin Shah, accompanied by key members of the SITC team, held a strategic meeting with Shahbaz Khan, Senior Digital Specialist for the MENA-Afghanistan-Pakistan region at the World Bank, along with World Bank Consultant Gohar Ahmed and Salik Riaz from the Punjab Information Technology Board, to discuss alignment between Sindh’s digital transformation agenda and the World Bank-funded Digital Economy Enhancement Project.
The meeting focused on ensuring that Sindh’s digital infrastructure development moves in step with both national priorities and global best practices, with the Digital Economy Enhancement Project serving as a key reference framework for the discussions. The project, funded by the World Bank, is aimed at accelerating Pakistan’s transition toward a more inclusive and productive digital economy, and the engagement between SITC and the World Bank team reflects Sindh’s intent to position its provincial digital initiatives within that broader national and international architecture rather than developing in isolation.
For SITC, which serves as the primary technology delivery body for the Government of Sindh, ensuring strategic coherence with World Bank programming and federal IT initiatives such as those coordinated through the Punjab Information Technology Board is a practical necessity as the province scales up its digital services and infrastructure investments. The conversation with Shahbaz Khan and his team at the World Bank provides SITC with direct access to international expertise and positions Sindh’s digital roadmap for potential alignment with future World Bank support, whether through the existing DEEP project or through subsequent engagements as the province’s digital transformation agenda matures.
