The Sindh government has approved the establishment of Information Technology (IT) colleges across all 30 districts of the province, including the seven districts of Karachi. Officials confirmed that the initiative aims to strengthen digital education and create equitable access to technology learning opportunities throughout Sindh. This decision follows a directive from the Sindh High Court’s Sukkur Bench, issued on September 17, 2025, which instructed provincial authorities to ensure that every district in Sindh has access to a dedicated IT education institution.
According to the Department of College Education, this step is part of the provincial government’s larger effort to enhance technical and vocational education, aligning academic programs with the needs of the digital economy. The department has sought detailed implementation reports from the Director General Colleges and Regional Director Colleges to monitor progress and ensure that the project moves forward without administrative delays. Officials have been instructed to submit their updates within three days, allowing the department to accelerate planning and resource allocation.
Once implemented, these IT colleges are expected to provide training in areas such as computer science, programming, networking, and digital innovation, helping bridge the gap between traditional education and emerging technology sectors. The move comes at a time when digital literacy is becoming increasingly essential for employability and entrepreneurship. By focusing on district-level access, the Sindh government aims to decentralize IT education, enabling youth from remote and underserved areas to benefit from the same opportunities available in major urban centers like Karachi and Hyderabad.
This development underscores Sindh’s intent to prepare a new generation of skilled professionals capable of contributing to Pakistan’s growing digital landscape.
