A delegation from the Science & Information Technology Department, Government of Sindh, conducted a comprehensive review visit to the People’s Information Technology Programme Phase II (PITP-II) training centers at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) and its affiliated facilities across Hyderabad. The delegation, led by Shahzeb Malik, Ph.D., Member IT, and Mr. Ather Hussain Baloch, Director, focused on assessing the progress of course delivery, evaluating the quality of training, and reviewing the overall implementation of Batch 1 of PITP-II. The visit underscores the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring high-quality, industry-relevant digital skills training for youth throughout Sindh.
The day began with a formal reception hosted by Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, Vice Chancellor of MUET, alongside Dr. Naeem Mahoto, Deputy Focal Person of PITP-MUET, and Engr. Salman Ul Mouzam Abbasi, Program Manager of PITP-MUET. During the visit, the delegation interacted directly with trainees, observing their engagement in various IT modules and gaining insight into learning outcomes. Officials highlighted the importance of aligning the programme’s curriculum with industry demands to enhance employability and provide practical skills that meet the evolving needs of Pakistan’s technology sector.
The delegation also reviewed the administrative and operational aspects of the training centers, including faculty performance, resource allocation, and infrastructure readiness. Feedback was provided to ensure that trainees receive not only theoretical knowledge but also hands-on experience in IT applications, programming, software development, and digital project execution. PITP-II aims to equip participants with essential digital competencies, ranging from basic computing and office applications to advanced software and emerging technologies, enabling them to compete effectively in local and international job markets.
Officials emphasized that the review was part of a broader effort to maintain transparency, accountability, and efficiency in government-led digital initiatives. By conducting regular oversight and performance assessments, the Sindh government seeks to strengthen the impact of PITP-II, ensuring it reaches diverse communities across Hyderabad and beyond. Delegation members also discussed plans for scaling the programme, expanding access to additional districts, and integrating new modules that address the latest developments in technology and digital services. This initiative reflects Sindh’s continued focus on building a skilled workforce prepared for Pakistan’s growing digital economy, while fostering youth empowerment, employment opportunities, and technological literacy across the province.
