The Government of Sindh through its College Education Department has announced the opening of applications for the Bhutto STEM Scholarship for the academic year 2026 27. The scholarship will be offered at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, in collaboration with Oxford Pakistan Programme. The initiative reflects Sindh’s continued focus on supporting advanced education and research opportunities for talented students, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, by facilitating access to one of the world’s leading academic institutions.
According to the official announcement, the Bhutto STEM Scholarship is open to highly qualified and motivated individuals holding domicile from Sindh who wish to pursue postgraduate studies at University of Oxford. The scholarship supports candidates seeking admission to Master’s, MPhil, and PhD or DPhil degree programs, with preference given to applicants from STEM disciplines. A total of six scholarships will be awarded for the 2026 27 academic year. Three of these scholarships are reserved exclusively for female candidates under the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Initiative, reinforcing the province’s commitment to promoting women’s participation in higher education and research. The remaining three scholarships will be awarded on open merit under the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Initiative, ensuring equal opportunity for eligible candidates across Sindh.
The eligibility criteria outlined by the College Education Department emphasize both academic merit and compliance with institutional requirements. Applicants must hold a valid Sindh CNIC, domicile, and PRC Form D. Candidates are required to meet the academic eligibility criteria for their chosen degree program at University of Oxford and must also fulfill the university’s merit based admission standards and English language requirements. A key requirement is securing an unconditional offer of admission from University of Oxford for the 2026 27 academic year before the scholarship can be awarded. Additionally, applicants must confirm that they are not receiving any other scholarship or financial assistance for the same program, ensuring transparency and equitable distribution of funding.
The application process for the Bhutto STEM Scholarship will be conducted online through the Oxford Pakistan Programme platform. Candidates are required to submit complete applications within the specified timeframe, as incomplete submissions will not be considered for evaluation. Shortlisted applicants may be invited for interviews as part of the selection process. The assessment and final selection will be carried out jointly by the College Education Department of the Government of Sindh and the OPP Scholarship Committee, highlighting a collaborative approach to candidate evaluation. The department has stated that details regarding the opening and closing dates of applications will be shared through the official application link provided on the Oxford Pakistan Programme platform. The scholarship initiative is expected to attract strong interest from Sindh’s academic community, particularly among students seeking international exposure and advanced research opportunities in STEM related fields.
