SECP has issued a public warning after identifying two online trading platforms operating illegally and misleading investors across Pakistan. The platforms, operating under the names Equitrix Investment Management LLC and ahlexchange.com, have been promoting exaggerated returns and attempting to lure individuals by presenting themselves as legitimate avenues for investing in shares of listed companies. According to the advisory, these entities have attempted to build credibility by falsely associating their activities with Arif Habib Limited, which is a licensed brokerage house. SECP clarified that these platforms have no authorization or connection with any licensed securities brokers and are misrepresenting their legitimacy to attract investment from unsuspecting users.

The advisory noted that such platforms often rely on aggressive promotion through social media channels and WhatsApp groups. Individuals involved in these schemes frequently misuse the names and branding of licensed brokers to create an appearance of legitimacy. SECP emphasized that the two identified platforms are neither licensed nor authorized to operate in any capacity related to investment or trading activity. The regulator has forwarded details of these entities to the relevant law enforcement agencies for further action while continuing its broader campaign to alert the public about unauthorized operators posing financial risks through online schemes.

The regulator urged investors to remain cautious and ensure they are interacting only with licensed securities and futures brokers. SECP reminded the public that they should communicate with brokers exclusively through official channels listed on their verified websites. The advisory also highlighted the availability of a complete list of licensed brokers on the websites of Pakistan Stock Exchange and Pakistan Mercantile Exchange, encouraging investors to verify broker credentials before conducting any financial transactions. SECP’s continued warnings aim to protect individuals from deceptive online actors who operate outside the regulated financial ecosystem.

SECP reiterated that the public must avoid engaging with Equitrix Investment Management LLC, ahlexchange.com, or any individuals promoting unlicensed investment services. Investors are urged to remain attentive, refrain from sharing personal information with unauthorized platforms, and confirm the legitimacy of any service before transferring funds. The advisory reflects ongoing efforts by the regulator to safeguard investors while addressing the increasing number of fraudulent digital platforms that attempt to exploit gaps in public awareness regarding regulated financial services in Pakistan.
