Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif revealed on Monday that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has expressed a strong interest in employing millions of skilled IT workers from Pakistan to bolster Saudi Arabia’s technological infrastructure. This announcement followed PM Shehbaz’s recent diplomatic visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where key discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in technology and workforce development.
During a cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister outlined his productive conversation with the Saudi Crown Prince, emphasizing that Saudi Arabia’s demand for IT professionals is set to rise. Saudi delegations are also exploring collaborative opportunities in areas such as solar energy, mining, and agriculture. A Pakistani team is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia to advance these dialogues.
In Qatar, PM Shehbaz met with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to strengthening economic ties. The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is expediting a $3 billion investment initiative and plans to send a delegation to Pakistan to explore potential ventures in IT and mineral sectors. The Qatari emir also announced plans to develop an IT park in Pakistan, reinforcing tech collaboration between the two nations.
Information Minister Ataullah Tarar noted that Qatar’s $3 billion investment would have a significant positive impact on Pakistan’s economy, signaling a major advancement from PM Shehbaz’s recent diplomatic outreach.
