More than 100 technology firms from Romania and Pakistan gathered at the Romania–Pakistan IT Forum 2025, signalling a significant step toward enhancing digital cooperation between the two countries. The online forum created opportunities for business links, market expansion, and knowledge exchange across software development, digital services, and emerging technologies. Hosted jointly by the Embassy of Romania in Islamabad, P@SHA, and Romania’s ANIS, the event on November 20 brought together government officials, industry leaders, and private companies to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral IT engagement and encourage cross-border partnerships.
The forum commenced with remarks from senior government officials overseeing technology and digital economy initiatives in their respective countries. Romania’s Minister of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Radu-Dinel Miru?a, highlighted the mutual benefits of collaboration, noting that shared strengths and complementary expertise could drive sustainable cooperation. Drawing from his background as a former software engineer, he emphasised his confidence in the potential of working with Pakistani IT professionals. On the Pakistani side, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Khalid Hussain Magsi, described Romania as an emerging destination for IT exports, underlining the importance of increasing business-to-business contacts, hosting networking sessions, and encouraging participation in major technology events such as ITCN Asia and the DFDI Forum.
The forum also featured insights from diplomatic representatives, including Romania’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Dan Stoenescu, and Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to Romania, Ilyas Nizami. Both highlighted the role of technology sector exchanges in strengthening economic ties and building professional networks. Romania’s Under-Secretary of State, Andrei Miftode, provided a technical overview of Romania’s digital programmes, including electronic communications strategies and digital policy coordination, adding depth to discussions on collaboration frameworks. Presentations from P@SHA Chairman Sajjad Syed and ANIS President Edward Cre?escu illustrated the strengths of their respective markets and explored how Pakistani and Romanian companies could complement each other in software engineering, enterprise solutions, cybersecurity, and IT-enabled services.
Several leading technology firms also contributed to the discussions. Romanian companies including UiPath, Bitdefender, and SIMAVI shared insights on expansion plans and technology initiatives, while Pakistani firms such as Mercurial Minds, Alfoze Technologies, Systems Limited, and Metaviz Ltd outlined opportunities to collaborate with Romanian partners. Case studies presented by Pakistani companies already engaged with Romanian firms demonstrated the benefits of regular communication, aligned goals, and mutual trust in achieving productive outcomes. Participants agreed that structured follow-up meetings, consistent dialogue, and participation in each country’s flagship IT events would be essential to transforming initial connections into sustainable business collaborations.
By bringing together government stakeholders, industry associations, and private enterprises, the Romania–Pakistan IT Forum 2025 showcased the shared commitment of both countries to deepen digital cooperation. The event reinforced the potential for joint ventures, knowledge sharing, and innovative collaborations in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, and IT-enabled services, setting the stage for long-term bilateral engagement between over 100 technology firms from both markets.
