The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the National Science and Technology Park (NSTP) have jointly launched the second cohort of the highly anticipated Rising Stars Startup Competition (RSSC) 2024-25. Designed to empower Pakistan’s entrepreneurial community, this initiative offers unparalleled opportunities for budding entrepreneurs and business owners to access funding, training, and mentorship, ultimately fostering innovation and growth in the country’s startup ecosystem.

The program aims to identify and nurture high-potential startups by providing critical resources and support to help them scale their ventures. Participants will not only benefit from seed funding of PKR 1 million, but also from a fully funded visit to the United States, where they will engage with top-tier innovation hubs, industry leaders, and experts. Additionally, they will undergo specialized startup training, benefit from 1-on-1 mentorship, and gain access to the NUST Innovation Ecosystem, which is renowned for fostering groundbreaking ideas and turning them into sustainable businesses.

The eligibility criteria for the competition emphasize inclusivity, focusing on underrepresented groups in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Applicants must be Pakistani nationals with a valid CNIC, and priority will be given to those from minority communities or female participants. Applicants should present a business idea with potential for innovation and growth. A basic educational background is required for effective communication, and the program is open to individuals aged 18 to 50 years.

The Rising Stars Startup Competition has already garnered significant attention for its transformative impact on Pakistan’s entrepreneurial landscape. The initiative’s focus on providing resources such as funding, mentorship, and international exposure reflects the growing recognition of startups as key drivers of economic development in Pakistan. By creating opportunities for emerging entrepreneurs, RSSC aims to fuel innovation, generate employment, and contribute to the national economy.

“This program is a testament to the strong partnership between the U.S. Embassy and NSTP in supporting Pakistan’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said an official involved in the program. “The Rising Stars Startup Competition not only identifies and nurtures local talent but also provides a global platform for Pakistani entrepreneurs to showcase their innovations.”

The fully funded visit to the U.S. is one of the most exciting aspects of the competition. It provides participants with a chance to learn directly from global innovation leaders and gain insights into cutting-edge practices in entrepreneurship, technology, and business strategy. The hands-on mentorship and access to resources through the NUST Innovation Ecosystem are expected to further equip participants with the tools they need to turn their ideas into successful ventures.

Startups across Pakistan are encouraged to seize this unique opportunity to scale their businesses, connect with influential mentors, and contribute to the growing entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country. With an emphasis on inclusivity, the competition aims to provide equal opportunities for minority groups and women, ensuring a diverse and dynamic pool of participants.

Applications for the Rising Stars Startup Competition 2024-25 are now open, and interested candidates are urged to apply by visiting the following link: Apply Now.

This initiative represents a bold step toward fostering a culture of entrepreneurship in Pakistan, empowering individuals with innovative ideas, and driving the country toward a brighter economic future.
