Federal Cabinet has given the green light to recommendations from the Rightsizing of the Federal Government Committee for the merger and dissolution of 82 State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved the recommendations while also forming a committee to safeguard the interests of employees affected by the changes.

These 82 SOEs are being transformed through digitization, efficient governance, and transparency to improve public services. The Cabinet was informed that the first phase of implementation has begun in six ministries.

The Cabinet also approved austerity measures, including voluntary salary waivers by cabinet members, a ban on unnecessary purchases, and a reduction in foreign travel. These measures aim to reduce government expenditure and improve efficiency.

The Cabinet strongly condemned recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan and offered condolences to the victims. Strict action against the perpetrators was emphasized.
