Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched a new skills development program designed to enhance the employability of young people in the IT sector.
The CM Skills Development Programme focuses on training participants in high-demand IT courses, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, graphic design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and game development.
The program kicked off with a digital inauguration ceremony at the Government Technology College for Women, where students participated remotely.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Sharif emphasized the program’s importance. “This initiative will provide training to 4,000 young people across 35 TEVTA institutes in various cities throughout Punjab,” she explained.
The Punjab government has committed to providing free, high-quality training in these advanced IT courses to 4,000 students annually. The program is designed to scale up progressively, ultimately reaching a target of 40,000 trained students per year.
Chief Minister Sharif also addressed the issue of access to advanced training. “Providing this training used to be a right denied to our youth,” she stated. “This program rectifies that by offering free access to these in-demand skills.”
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive certifications from renowned international organizations like Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco, and Unity. These certifications will further bolster their resumes and increase their competitiveness in the job market.
The CM Skills Development Programme represents a significant step towards empowering young Pakistanis with the skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the evolving IT landscape.
