In a significant development, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, revealed plans for expanding the Punjab Safe City Authority to cover 16 cities during the inauguration of a Model Police Station in Lahore. This expansion reflects a strong commitment to heightening security measures across the province.
CM Naqvi shed light on the ongoing initiatives in Punjab, disclosing that the upgrade of 737 police stations is currently in progress. Notably, specific areas within Lahore’s police stations, including front desks, waiting areas, SHO offices, and interrogation rooms, are undergoing enhancements to establish a more efficient and modernized law enforcement infrastructure.
In a bid to strengthen law enforcement capabilities, the Chief Minister unveiled ambitious plans for constructing 22 new police stations in Lahore. This strategic move is geared towards fortifying community safety and contributing to more effective policing in the region.
As part of the broader modernization efforts, Lahore introduced digital driving licenses approximately a month ago. Naqvi reported a significant surge in adoption, with a staggering 24,800 driving licenses issued in the past 24 hours alone. This digitalization initiative aligns with the overarching goal of streamlining services and embracing technological advancements in governance and law enforcement.
